I hope that everyone is enjoying a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation. Hopefully you are recharging your batteries to get ready for an amazing and exciting marching season. I can not wait to get started for this year and see all of our fantastic students back in the band hall! The worst part about the summer is not being able to see all of my students!
I wanted to send information to parents and students with a few reminders and updates about this upcoming year.
DISNEY WORLD TRIP
We are in progress of planning our trip to Disney World for the band next year. There are many factors that will go into pricing and the duration of the trip. Our hope is to stay in Florida for 4 nights and visit Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot. We also are applying to march down main street at Magic Kingdom and participating in a soundtrack session where students will sightread and record a selection of a Disney soundtrack!
We would like to inform our students and parents about this upcoming opportunity for our students. We encourage families to start saving now. In 2018 this same trip to Disney cost $850 per student. Park ticket costs have gone up since then and we have the added concern of rising gas prices. Hopefully we will have a solid price for students and parents during summer band.
Band/Guard Registration will be online for this year since we are still awaiting the arrival of our NEW band uniforms! Once the registration information is ready it will be emailed and posted on Facebook and our Linktree site (https://linktr.ee/midwayband). Registration must be completed by July 31st.
Be sure your student is prepared for summer band with the following items: 1 gallon (or larger) water jug, athletic clothes, athletic shoes, instrument/equipment and we highly suggest sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. We will be working outside during the morning hours and moving inside for music rehearsals during the heat of the day. Please be sure your student is spending time outside before we begin summer band. Although we have been blessed with cooler summer weather so far, the humidity is very challenging and shouldn't be underestimated!
